Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, took control to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
